In Science this term, Year 5 became light detectives with Ms Martini!
Through hands-on investigations, students explored the fascinating behaviour of light. Using prisms, they split white light into vibrant rainbows and discovered that white light is actually made up of many colours. They also experimented with torches and objects to uncover how shadows are formed, and what influences their size and sharpness. It was a bright and colourful journey into the world of physics!

A Journey of Faith: Hajj Exhibition Inspires and Educates
Models of the rituals and key areas of Hajj.

Fuelling Young Minds: Foodbank Breakfast Club
Our Foodbank Breakfast Club has been a heartwarming success, providing students with a nutritious and energising start to their day. Thanks to this wonderful initiative, students have been able to enjoy healthy breakfasts in a welcoming, social environment before heading into class.
The program not only supports student wellbeing and concentration but also promotes a sense of community and care. We’re proud to partner with Foodbank to ensure every child begins the day ready to learn, connect, and thrive.

A Journey Through the Golden Age of Discovery!
Islam’s Golden Age — a remarkable period of innovation, creativity, and scientific discovery.
The experience included:
A dynamic live presentation on key Islamic innovations
A student activity booklet
A hands-on geometric art activity linking maths and Islamic design
A vibrant Kaleidoscope Art Workshop for primary students

Standing Up, Speaking Out: Bullying Workshop Empowers Students
Students took part in a powerful and thought-provoking bullying prevention workshop designed to build empathy, confidence, and resilience. Through real-life scenarios and interactive discussions, they learned how to recognise bullying, respond safely, and support others in need.
Following the workshop, students participated in a creative hands-on activity that reinforced key messages through teamwork, reflection, and problem-solving. It was an inspiring experience that encouraged students to be upstanders, not bystanders — and to help create a safer, more inclusive school community for everyone.

Readers’ Theatre - Year 6 with Ms Marilyn
The Year 6 English (vanguard) class showed off their oracy skills by putting up a Readers’ Theatre presentation.
The four poems were brought to life by little more than their voices!
- Look out for the cookie thief or Matilda who tells such terrible lies!
- If you see George walking around with a nasty lump behind his ear, do NOT buy him a balloon lest he blow up your house!
- Did you know that Red Riding Hood is running around with a pistol?

“Hibernate or Migrate? Year 6C Students Explore the Wild Side of Science with Ms Fazla”
Did you know that a blue whale can live up to 80–90 years?
As part of our Biological Sciences unit, “Why Do Animals Hibernate or Migrate?”, students delved into the fascinating survival strategies that animals use to adapt to seasonal changes. They explored how hibernation and migration help animals cope with extreme environmental conditions.

Sparking Curiosity: Year 6 Explores Circuits & Electricity with Mr Riza
Investigating how electrical energy flows through wires, switches, bulbs, and buzzers — laying the groundwork for their upcoming Design Challenge: creating models to showcase electrical circuits.

Year 6 - From Spark to Story: Crafting Sizzling Starts and Exciting Endings
Students their writing by sizzling starts and exciting endings from the Seven Steps to Writing Success. They expanded example texts, crafted their own creative openings and conclusions, and transferred their work to Word using dictation, with AI tools supporting spelling and grammar checks. We’re proud of their wonderful progress as young authors!

“Fast, Friction, Fun: Year 4 Physicists on the Move!”
In Science, our Year 4 students became junior physicists as they explored the fascinating world of forces! Using toy cars, they tested how different surfaces—smooth tiles, carpet, wooden floors, and ramps—affect the distance a car can travel. With rulers in hand and curiosity in full gear, students made predictions, recorded measurements, and discovered how friction and gravity play a big role in motion. It was a hands-on, minds-on lesson full of fun and learning!

Bringing Math to Life with year 5: How Acting Out Problems Boosts Learning
In our classroom, math took on a whole new dimension this week as students stepped out of their seats and into the spotlight—literally! To deepen their understanding of problem-solving strategies, students worked in teams to act out math problems. This hands-on approach transformed abstract numbers and concepts into real-world scenarios they could see, touch, and explore.
By physically embodying the math problems, students engaged multiple senses and strengthened their critical thinking. Acting out helped them visualize relationships, communicate ideas clearly, and collaborate more effectively. It turned math from a solitary exercise into an exciting team challenge.

Year 5 Students Take Flight with Creative Aeroplane Challenge Inspired by class novel Hatchet
Learning took off—quite literally—as our students embarked on an exciting hands-on project inspired by Gary Paulsen’s novel Hatchet. In the story, the protagonist survives a plane crash into a lake in a Cessna. Drawing from this adventurous tale, students were challenged to design and build their own aeroplane prototypes using just a single sheet of paper, aluminium foil, and straws.
