🎨 Art Attack! Year 4G Showcase

Exploring Art Through the Eyes of Margaret Preston
Our students recently dived into the world of Australian modern art, exploring the works and influence of artist Margaret Preston from the 1920s to the 1950s. Inspired by her style, they created their own vibrant interpretation of “A Vase of Flowers.”
The creative journey continued as students collaborated on self-portraits, paying special attention to the intricate details of hands and feet. Working together, they traced each other’s features and added faces and bodies in the background, experimenting with techniques to bring a striking 3D effect to their artwork.
The results were not only visually stunning but also a wonderful example of teamwork and artistic exploration! Maya Allah!
A Captivating Day at the Art Gallery of SA
Art Gallery SA

As part of their Art and English studies, our students visited the Art Gallery of South Australia to explore inspiring works by artists from around the world—both past and present. The experience came to life through storytelling when master storyteller Helen Lawry shared a traditional tale, The Magic Garden from Kazakhstan. Students followed the journey of a young man traveling to the city to buy seeds for a magnificent garden, discovering along the way that adventures rarely go exactly as planned. A day full of art, stories, and imagination!
Celebrating Stories: Book Week 2025
It’s All About Books!

Our talented students brought their favourite books to life by recreating iconic book covers for Book Week 2025. Some stayed true to the original designs, while others let their creativity soar, crafting unique and imaginative interpretationsthat celebrate the stories they love. A fantastic display of reading, art, and creativity!
Hits the Road to Safety - Year 4C
Safety First!

The Year 4C class visited the SA Police Road Safety Centre to learn how to stay safe on the roads. Students navigated a realistic track complete with traffic lights and signs, practicing their road safety skills while wearing helmets to keep #SafetyFirst. A fun and educational day that had everyone riding, learning, and staying safe!
Explores the Wonders of Science! - Year 4C
Our Future Scientist

During Science Week, the Year 4C students dived into a range of exciting activities—from a mesmerizing Bubble Showand an Online Science Show to creating Elephant Toothpaste experiments and witnessing a thrilling rocket launch. They also learned from high school students who presented in their classroom and shared their newfound knowledge with the Junior Primary students. What an incredible week full of curiosity, discovery, and hands-on learning!
Learning Arabic Through Fun and Reflective Practices
Active Minds, Inspired Hearts

Our Arabic Advanced students had a dynamic week of learning, both outdoors and in the classroom!
In the Garden Quiz Race, students explored the school garden, searching for hidden questions and solving them on their whiteboards. The student who answered all questions correctly proudly took home the trophy, making it a perfect mix of fun, challenge, and active learning.

Our Students Shine in Arabic!
Arabic Learning in Action!

This week, our Basic Arabic classes shone through their story projects. Through reading, analysis, and creative work, students demonstrated remarkable progress and growing confidence in their language skills. Their projects, such as the Parts of Speech Tree, reflect the meaningful difference they are making every day. We are very proud of their achievements, and the excitement continues to grow with upcoming projects, Insha’Allah.
In addition, our learning-through-play approach is making Arabic lessons fun, interactive, and effective. Step by step, this method guides students across different levels, closing learning gaps and catering to individual needs. Every student’s progress becomes an inspiring journey filled with motivation and confidence.
Molecules on the Move! - 5G

Students explored how molecules move in different states through a hands-on experiment. Using food dye and water at three temperatures—cold, medium, and hot—they observed that as the temperature increases, molecules move faster. This was clearly shown by how quickly the food dye spread through the water, making molecular movement easy to see and understand!
Year 5G Celebrates Book Week in Style!

Book Week Runner Up!

Year 5G students got creative for Book Week, designing imaginative book jackets for their favourite stories. Their designs included original illustrations, unique fonts, book spines, author profiles, blurbs, quotes, and reviews. To bring their creations to life, students even wore jackets that matched the colours of their book designs—making their love of reading visible and fun!
The 5G Vanguards also joined a special online workshop with illustrator Nisaluk Chantanakom (CBCA-shortlisted A Teaspoon of Light and A Lemon for Safiya) during their literacy lesson. Students explored how authors and illustrators inspire one another and followed a mini tutorial on illustration, storyboarding, and design, gaining valuable insights into the creative process.
5G Tackles Maths Hands-On!

Our Year 5G students explored Maths in action through engaging, hands-on activities! They were challenged to cut shapes to create equal areas and use a set number of squares to meet specific perimeter conditions. Working in teams, students discussed strategies, tested ideas, and problem-solved together. This interactive approach not only strengthened their understanding of area and perimeter but also encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
5G-Girls Build Survival Shelters Inspired by Hatchet
Survival Shelters

Year 5G girls put their creativity and problem-solving skills to the test by designing survival shelters for Brian, the protagonist in Hatchet. Using natural resources, they created shelters complete with water filters, food storage solutions, and protection from the elements, just like Brian would need in the wilderness. A fun and practical way to connect reading with real-world thinking!
5C Gets Creative with Pottery!

The Year 5C students have been busy exploring their creativity through an exciting pottery project. Hands-on with clay, they learned how to shape their own pots and experiment with a variety of textures—from smooth finishes to intricate patterns—each piece showcasing their unique artistic style. After shaping their creations, students added the finishing touch with bright, colourful paints. The classroom has been buzzing with imagination, teamwork, and pride as their beautiful works of art came to life!
5C Steps into Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
Taking the Top Spot

During Book Week, our Year 5C students brought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to life by dressing up in creative costumes. Each student designed their own cardboard chocolate bar, while others stepped into character as Oompa Loompas, the Golden Ticket, and of course, Mr Wonka himself—played by their teacher!
Beyond the fun and costumes, students reflected on the moral of the story: the importance of kindness, humility, and gratitude, as shown through Charlie’s journey. They learned that true rewards come not from greed or selfishness, but from being genuine, respectful, and appreciating what you have.
5B Erupts with Learning!
Erupting with Knowledge

Class 5B brought science to life by designing and building their own DIY volcanoes. Students began by shaping the volcano structure using cardboard, plastic bottles, and clay/papier-mâché to form the mountain. Once dry, they painted their volcanoes to make them look realistic.
For the eruption, they carefully measured and added baking soda into the bottle hidden inside the volcano. Then, using a mixture of vinegar, dish soap, and food colouring, they created the magical moment—a bubbling, foaming eruption flowing down the sides!
This hands-on activity not only showed how chemical reactions work but also taught students the value of planning, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. Just like a real volcano, their ideas erupted with excitement and energy!
“At IQRA, all students explore and showcase their hidden talents”
Blue is the sky
With clouds in it high
Likewise the days go by
And so do your sorrows.
So live with a height,
As one day it may be bad,
But some are good.
Life has ups and downs,
But with a view,
You can change it.
