FATIMA EL-HAMAD (PhD) | BOARD DIRECTOR - IQRA PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE
About Me:

Fatima joined the IQRA College Board in 2019. Fatima holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Adelaide. She is currently a researcher and educator in the field of Biomedical Engineering with a passion for STEM, Science, and excellence in education. From her years of research at the university, she brings along critical thinking and enthusiasm for evidence-based practices in the educational setting.

Over the past 8 years, she has been involved in establishing several community-based Islamic educational programs that serve several age groups from early childhood to youth..

As a director of IQRA college, Fatima represent IQRA college board in the IQRA parent and friends committee. Through this involvement Fatima hopes to contribute to the establishment of a strong, inclusive and active school community of IQRA families. Fatima is enthusiastic about parents playing an essential role in their children’s education and progress of IQRA college.

Nasreena Waheed

About Me:

Nasreena was born and raised in the Maldives, where she completed her foundational education through the University of London’s O’level and A’level programs before pursuing higher education abroad. Growing up in a family that ran a school from home, she gained early exposure to traditional teaching methods, which were later enhanced through her postgraduate training as a university lecturer.

In addition to her academic career, Nasreena dedicated seven years to teaching and managing a weekend Islamic school in Australia, further broadening her educational impact. With 15 years of experience as an academic at multiple universities in Australia, she has a deep understanding of the evolving challenges in education and the pressures faced by students today. As a parent and educator, she is uniquely positioned to appreciate the expectations parents have for their children, as well as the shifting dynamics within modern education.

Nasreena serves on the parent’s committee to support both parents and the school, drawing on her diverse educational background. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Monash University, a Master of Nursing from the University of Adelaide, a Doctoral degree in Public Health from Flinders University, and a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from Charles Darwin University. She is also a recipient of multiple scholarships from the World Bank, the Government of Maldives, and the Government of Australia.

Nur Hezrin Shahrin

DR NUR HEZRIN SHAHRIN (PhD) | IQRA PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE MEMBER

About Me:

Nur Hezrin Shahrin is a Geneticist working as a Medical Research Scientist in the Department of Genetics and Molecular Pathology at SA Pathology. Her expertise lies in characterising genetic abnormalities in cancers, utilising her extensive knowledge of genetics to advance research in this critical field. She graduated with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Science, majoring in Genetics from The University of Adelaide, before pursuing her PhD at the same university. Following her doctoral studies, she completed post-doctoral training at the Acute Leukaemia Laboratory at the Centre for Cancer Biology, South Australia.

In addition to her scientific endeavours, Nur Hezrin has significant experience as a tutor and mentor for students at both school and university levels, and she has held leadership positions within her community. As a mother of three, she is passionate about making a positive impact, particularly in the education system. She advocates for opportunities that foster student growth and well-being, actively supporting initiatives that promote inclusivity and access to quality education for all children. Her involvement with the Parents and Friends Committee at IQRA College reflects her commitment to enhancing the learning environment and nurturing future generations.

Shafaq Asim

SHAFAQ ASIM | IQRA PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE MEMBER
About Me:

Shafaq Asim is a dedicated mother of three and holds a Master's degree in Food and Agricultural Biotechnology. She has also worked as a lecturer at the University of Karachi and in the Quality Assurance department at Abbott Laboratories in Karachi, Pakistan. 

She is an Early Childhood Educator and pursuing a Diploma in Taleem e Deen from Alhuda International in Adelaide.

Shafaq is passionate about serving her community and is committed to helping IQRA College achieve its goals for success.

Farooq

FAROOQ SIDDIQUI | IQRA PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE MEMBER
About Me:

Farooq is an engineer by profession and parent with an appetite for community involvement. He is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, holding a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, along with an MBA in Finance. With 15 years of diversified internatonal experience in the Automotive, EPC, Oil Field Service, Technology, and Medical Device sectors, he currently serves as the Supply Chain Manager at an Adelaide based mining technology company.

Outside of his professional commitments, Farooq enjoys working on robotics and automation projects, actively participates in community initiatves, and is passionate about youth development. His inspira?on comes from a strong belief in continuous improvement and excellence.

As an engaged and dedicated parent, Farooq is excited to contribute to IQRA College through the Parent Committee, aiming to enhance the school community and support the growth and development of all students.

Ayesha

AYESHA | IQRA PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE MEMBER
About Me:

Ayesha is a qualified doctor who graduated from LUMHS in 2012. Having lived and worked in Singapore and Malaysia, she has now settled in Australia. Ayesha is a passionate student of the Quran, having completed extensive studies in Tajweed, Quran Recitation, and Tafseer from Saudi Arabia. Her commitment to learning and teaching the Quran in its true spirit is a central part of her life.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Ayesha is actively involved in various community projects, demonstrating her dedication to making a positive impact. In her free time, she enjoys Quranic calligraphy and event management, blending her artistic interests with her organizational skills.

As a concerned parent, Ayesha is engaged with IQRA College through the Parents Friend Committee, where she fosters strong relationships with teachers and acts as a school ambassador, advocating for the needs and interests of students and families.

Blarra

BLARRA JEROFF | IQRA PARENTS & FRIENDS COMMITTEE MEMBER
About Me:

Blarra is the newest member of the PFC. She was born and raised in Adelaide and currently works as a Registered Operating Theatre Nurse at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

As a graduate of an Islamic school in Adelaide herself, Blarra understands the importance of fostering a strong and confident Islamic identity in her two children, which is why she joined the PFC.

In her spare time, Blarra enjoys cooking, learning about different cuisines, and spending time with her kids exploring nature.
